The Ladycats were hard at work during practice on Monday in the Union Bank Center. The volleyball season begins on August 22nd with a benefit game against Van Buren in the UBC. The season opener is on August 26th when Mena plays Booneville in the UBC.

Jr. and Sr. teams from Cossatot, Dierks, and DeQueen participated in the Mena Basketball Team Camp in the Union Bank Center on Wednesday.
The Mena Jr. Bearcats will play their 2024 season opener on November 11th at Cossatot.

Mena Middle School FCCLA attended and competed at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Seattle, WA. recently. Both MMS FCCLA teams made top 10 in the nation in their respective events! Zahra Sofi and Fran Vacca earned silver and 1st place in the nation for level 1, Hospitality, Tourism, & Recreation. Brynlee’s Bahr, Sophia Cummings, and Lily Kate Doughty earned gold in level 1, Sports Nutrition.
Mena School Staff just wrapped up three days of professional development at the Arkansas School Counseling Association Conference in Hot Springs.
Tonya Thacker, School Counselor at Holly Harshman Elementary and Avanlea Chaney, School Counselor at Louise Durham Elementary presented a carload full of pop tabs at the Arkansas School Counselor Association Conference this week. The tabs are donated to the Ronald McDonald House as a fundraiser. The Ronald McDonald House gets 40 to 50 cents per pound for the tabs. Mena was the top contributor at the conference this year. Thank you to the students, teachers and the community for working hard to help with this effort.

Kensey Rosson, Jaxon Baber, Craig Bentley, and Kiylee Hughes represented Mena at the 2024 AHSCA All-Star Games!
District Maintenance Supervisor Danny Minton spoke at the Mena School Board meeting earlier this week about progress on the Hensley Activity Center. Minton said crews are about five weeks behind schedule due to weather. Petree Construction has three crews working six days a week on the project to get back on track.
