
The Mena Bearcats basketball season came to an end Monday with a 40-43 loss to DeQueen in the 7-4A District Tournament.
The Ladycats will open tournament play Tuesday at 4pm when they play Hope. Games are being played at Malvern.


Beginning Tuesday, February 18, at Louise Durham Elementary all Preschool students and older siblings will be dropped off and picked up at the gym. Please remember the parents picking up older siblings in the afternoon will need to arrive after 3:00 PM. Parents that arrive earlier will be asked to go around to the end of the line. For safety reasons, cars will not be allowed to pass around other vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

The Sr. High District Basketball Tournament will be played at Malvern this week. The Bearcats first game is Monday & the Ladycats first game is Tuesday. See the complete bracket below..GO BEARCATS!



The Ladycats & Bearcats played their final conference games at Arkadelphia Friday night. The girls won their game 47-33 & the boys lost by a score of 43-56. Both Mena teams will play in the 7-4A District Tournament at Malvern next week.


Mena Superintendent Benny Weston is representing Arkansas in San Diego at the National AASA Conference.


The Mena Jr. Ladycats are champions of the 7-4A Jr. District Tournament. The girls defeated Nashville by a score of 26-22 in the finals Friday night. Go Ladycats!


Mena Middle School FBLA members attended the Spring Leadership Conference yesterday. The following students competed in competitions and were recognized at conference for placing in the top 5.

Students: If you are coming in late to 1st period, you must go to the office and sign in, teachers, please send them to the office to sign in if they don’t have an admit slip (either white or blue). Also if you are coming in at the end of 1st period, you will still receive an unexcused tardy. Also, this does not just pertain to 1st and 2nd period, you will only get an excused tardy if you have a doctor’s note.
HUB Program Applications are available in Mrs. Buckley's office. If you are interested in the HUB program for 2020-2021, you are welcome to pick up an application in the office.
FFA Members who are participating in the Colt’s Classic CDE Contests on Friday, February 14, will be leaving the Ag Building @ 6:30 a.m. This will involve the following teams: Nursery & Landscape, Electricity, Ag Mechanics, Vet. Science and Forestry. Please bring money for breakfast and lunch.

The yearbook staff has extended sales of the 2020 MHS Yearbook for a limited time. You can still order a non-personalized 2020 yearbook for $60, but the final day to order will be by the end of the school day today. See Mr. Philpot in room 205 to order with cash or check.
Special Olympic Polar Plunge is scheduled for this morning at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Parking Lot. There will also be a Unified Champion Schools Assembly in the PAC, which students will be dismissed from class to attend at 10:30 this morning.
The Independent Living Class will have Hot Chocolate, Cappuccinos and Coffees for sale daily before school starts for $1.00 each. Stop by and see them in the hallway.
There will be no school tomorrow, February 14, and Monday, February 17, will be CAPS conferences scheduling day.
Valentine Deliveries will be in room 316 by the bus loading zone door. Students may pick up deliveries at the end of the day or upon check-out. Lists will be posted outside 316 and the office, your name will be highlighted if you have a delivery. The list will also be in google docs, the document has been shared via email.

The Mena Jr. Bearcat’s basketball season came to an end Wednesday night. The boys lost to Arkadelphia by a score of 33-38 in the 7-4A District Tournament in Nashville.
The Jr. Ladycats won their game over Bauxite 27-20. The girls advance & will play Nashville on Thursday at 6pm. Go Ladycats!

Reminders:
Students who signed up for cheer need to get their paperwork turned in to Mrs. Breedlove asap. There will be a mandatory meeting in her room next Thursday during ACHIEVE and she will tell you about future meetings.
Valentines Crush sales continue through tomorrow.

The Student Council officers will have a group photo taken tomorrow and all other Student Council members will have their photo taken next Tuesday.

Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative, along with the state’s 16 other electric cooperatives, will provide an all-expense-paid trip to the nation’s capital for a selected group of high school juniors from Arkansas.
