Cindy Standridge escorted a group of her Mena High School students to the CTE Experience Day at the Arkansas Career Development Center on Tuesday. Auston Kirkendoll, Mathew Grossman, and Noah Snider were exposed to the hospitality industry, a driving simulator, carpentry, welding & more.

Celeste Ashcraft & Heather Catlett represented the Mena Public Schools at the University of Arkansas Teacher Career Fair recently.
Teacher recruitment has become a high priority & the duo was sharing information with this year's graduates.

Congratulations to the Jr. Ladycats for their 1st place victory at the Waldron Relays on Tuesday. JADEN ROBERTS won the high jump, JAYDEN COX won the triple jump, ELLITO DUGAN won the 100 meter hurdles & they also won the 4x400 meter relay.
The Jr. Bearcats were led by ELIJAH SMITH who won the high jump.

The Mena 7th Grade Ladycats dominated the Waldron Relays on Monday. The girls finished 1st as a team & they were paced by EMMI HENSLEY who won the girls High Point placing 1st in the 100m dash, 200m dash, 5th in long jump, 4th in triple jump and 1st and 2nd in her relays. LANIE TAYLOR won the 800 meter run & JOBE PAISLEY won the 1600 meter run.
The 7th Grade Bearcats also had a good outing. CHANCE HUGHES won the triple jump & the Bearcats also won the 4x400 meter relay.

Mena High School was well represented at the FBLA State Convention earlier this week. Three students qualified on their objective test to compete at Nationals. Our national qualifiers are:
SHANTAL TECSON - 2nd place Intro to Business Communications
BRILEY DEAN - 3rd place Advertising
PSALM WISTRAND - 1st place UX Design
Placing in the top 4 qualifies them to compete at FBLA Nationals in Chicago this summer. Congratulations!!!

Former Razorback and NBA star Sidney Moncrief & his wife Dr. Tanisha Moncrief spoke to a group of Mena High School students on Tuesday. Moncrief's team also included Mr. George Moncrief & Mr. Ron Watson. The presentation is a part of the G.R.I.T. at Work Career Readiness Initiative. The Moncrief Team is touring the state of Arkansas to instill emotional intelligence and soft skills principles into the students.

Mena Middle School FBLA students qualifying for state competitions spent their day attending the leadership conference and competing with other students across the state at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.

DAX MCMELLON received 3rd place overall in the state for the FBLA Mid-Level Digital Citizenship competition. Congratulations Dax!

The 2022 Girls of Promise Conference was held in Little Rock on April 1. Mena Middle School had three young ladies chosen to attend. Mrs. Luttmer, 8th grade science teacher, chaperoned Breanna Crider, Kenzie Davis and Allison Howard to this awesome event. Each reported having had a great time learning from amazing women in STEAM fields from across the state.


It’s Arkansas Children’s Week in preschool. Mrs. Taylor's class kicked off the first day with silly hats, glow sticks and a dance party!!


A representative from the Morgan Nick Foundation spoke to Mena High School students on Monday morning about their safety & eliminating risky behaviors.

The Mena Basscats were in action Saturday(4/2/22) at Lake Ouachita in the Gregg Orr Championship Tournament. Austin Rose and Jarrett Burger took 3rd place. Brynten Rose and Reed Henry(from Mena) came in 4th.

The Jr. High Track Teams competed at the Mansfield Tiger Relays on Thursday.
The Jr. Ladycats finished tied for first place in the team standings & were led by ELLIOT DUGAN with a first place finish in the high jump & the 100 meter hurdles. The Mena 4x400 & 4x800 meter relays teams also won those events.
The Jr. Bearcats were led by ELIJAH SMITH who finished first in the triple jump & 2nd in the high jump.

Athletes from the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain spoke to the 3rd,4th & 5th grade students at Holly Harshman on Friday about the importance of continuing your education after high school & how they used a skill set they were blessed with to make that happen. They also gave students a look inside their life as student/athletes.
