Mena Golf had a good day on the links at the Malvern Country Club. The varsity boys finished second behind Arkadelphia. Mena Coaches have selected #15, Austin Rose, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game for Week #1 vs. perineal rival, DeQueen. Austin played very well at the Quarterback position last Friday night and led Mena to a 42-7 season opening victory over the Leopards. Austin’s stats for the game included 272 passing yards, throwing for 2 TD’s and rushing for another. He also kicked 4 extra points for the Bearcats. Austin is the son of Phillip and Leilani Rose, and the brother of Kacie Rose and Natalie Ledbetter, all of Mena. Bearcat Player of the Game vs. Dequeen - AUSTIN ROSE This is Austin’s final year as a Bearcat, also playing baseball in the spring semester, as either shortstop or pitcher. Austin’s hobbies include both hunting and fishing , but he excels at bass fishing. He and fishing partner, Jarrett Berger, represented Mena High School very well recently at the National High School finals in South Carolina, with a 15th place overall finish. After high school, Austin would like to compete professionally as a tournament bass fisherman, and is wanting to pursue a career in either coaching or to become a Game Warden with the AR Game and Fish Commission. This week, Austin and the Bearcats will host the Clarksville Panthers, at Randall Horton field, beginning at 7:00 Presenting Austin with the first Player of the Week game ball is Farm Bureau Insurance Agent , Andy Brown , and Mena’s Offensive Coordinator, Bearcat Coach Landon Dover. Farm Bureau Insurance is a proud supporter of Mena Bearcat Athletics!!!!

MHS Cheer did their part to secure a 42-7 win on opening night at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium... GO BEARCATS!!!

The Mena Bearcats led 15-0 at the half & rolled in the second half enroute to a 42-7 win over DeQueen Friday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Mena will be back at home next Friday when they host Clarksville. Clarksville lost to Ozark in overtime 14-13 this week. GO BEARCATS!!!!

Sports Surface Management was at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium on Thursday prepping the turf on Randall Whorton Field for the football season. The first game is Friday at 7pm against DeQueen. Go Bearcats!!!!

Powder Puff Football will take place at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 22nd, following the Homecoming Parade, at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. All proceeds will go to Bearcats For a Cure Relay for Life Team. Students who want to participate need to see Ms.Hobson or contact your class team captain! Mena Jr. High Volleyball will play at Greenwood today beginning with the JV game at 4:30pm. Mena Jr. High Football plays at Mansfield this evening with kickoff at 7:00pm. The 7th grade game scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Mile Split has released the Arkansas Class 4A Cross Country Preseason Rankings & the Mena boys are ranked 7th. The season begins on September 7th. GO BEARCATS !

Mena High School Student Council is selling the official 2021 Homecoming Tee this year! The cost will be $12 per shirt and we have youth sizes Small-Large and adult sizes Small-6X available for order! If you would like to order please email Ms.Hobson at ladatha.hobson@menaschools.org and drop off your money in a sealed envelope with your name to the Mena High School office no later than Friday, September 10th. Shirts will be delivered to all Mena Public School campuses and local businesses on Monday, September 20th. Go Bearcats!

Mena Volleyball hosted Lake Hamilton Monday at Jim Rackley Gymnasium & the Union Bank Center.. The 7th Grade Ladycats lost 9-25 & 0-25. The Jr. High Ladycats won 25-18 & 25-23 The Sr. Ladycats won 25-15, 25-12 & 25-18 Mena will play at Greenwood on Thursday.

Mena Volleyball will host Lake Hamilton at the Union Bank Center. The 7th Grade, Jr. JV, Sr. JV. Jr. High & Sr. High teams will play beginning at 4:30pm. MHS Golf will play at Hot Springs Village in a match hosted by Jessieville..

Mena Sr, Boys Golf competed at the Nashville Country Club on Monday. Mena finished in third behind Nashville & Hope.. Malvern & Bauxite also competed..
