2021 Sales Tax Holiday
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday August 7, 2021, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday August 8, 2021, the State of Arkansas will hold its sales tax holiday allowing shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain Electronic Devices, School Supplies, School Art Supplies, School Instructional Materials, and Clothing free of state and local sales or use tax.
All retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt during the Sales Tax Holiday.

Classified staff interested in the REACH program were invited to an informational meeting on Wednesday.
REACH is a para to teacher program that partners with REACH University to train paraprofessionals in the pathway to earning a Bachelor's degree. Cost is minimal and time invested includes course work as well as the time at work.

Mr. John Ponder, immediate past director of the DeQueen Mena Educational Service Cooperative & former Mena High School superintendent, was recognized for 38 years of service to education at the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators Summer Conference today. He is pictured with his wife, Mrs. Robin Ponder who recently retired from her position at Mena MIddle School. Congratulations!

The 2021 Open House is just around the corner!
Michelle Finn, an educational consultant with Marzanos Research, will spend the day with Mena School District faculty on Thursday, August 12th. She will focus on The New Art and Science of Teaching. Student engagement and the district instructional model will be highlights of the day. Finn is the a coauthor of A Handbook for Personalized, Competency-Based Education.
Michelle recently received notoriety as a cast member on the tv show "Alone" on the History Channel.

Mena Public Schools Transportation Supervisor James Davis would like to remind you that the bus driver in service will be Monday, July 26th. This will be for all bus drivers from 9am-noon & Mena drivers will continue from 1pm-3pm. All happening in the MHS Performing Arts Center.

Hello, my name is Liberty Jacot and I am blessed to be teaching 4th grade ELA and Social Studies at Holly Harshman Elementary. I hold a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a Master of Education Leadership. I have 11 years experience in teaching and intervention in upper elementary. I am honored to be serving my community alongside the dedicated, talented staff of HHE.
Many opportunities have been missed in recent years at Mena Public Schools simply because parents have declined to fill out a free and reduced meal application. My name is Brianna Peters. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Early Elementary Education K-6 from Southern Arkansas University in May 2020. I was born and raised right here in Mena! I am a HUGE family person and love anytime spent with them! I also enjoy being outdoors and watching movies.
The plight of the teacher's child, Nothing to do but wait while their parent's work on summer projects, professional development or other duties. All while their friends are enjoying vacation, a day at the pool or other fun stuff. Hang in there Avery !!!!
