
Louise Durham Kindergarten students attended UA Rich Mountain’s production of "Aesop’s Greatest Hits" at the Ouachita Center on Wednesday.

Meet Kindergarten Teacher Megan Tibbs
📚Books have always been a big part of Mrs. Tibbs life! Her mother and grandmother were both readers so she immediately grew to love stories and books. Mrs. Tibbs grew up loving the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books along with so many others.
Mrs. Tibbs favorite book is The Foot Book by Dr Seuss
📚”I loved reading The Foot Book to my son when he was a baby and one night after reading it , I started thinking about how true it is…. You meet a lot of feet in this world!”❤️
Mrs. Tibbs loves to share her love of reading with her Kindergarten students and help them fall in love with books just like she did!

Mrs. Castor loves reading and connecting health and wellness through a read aloud!
Mrs. Castor loves the book Everybody’s Good at Something by Susan Rose!
📚“ In this story Katie can’t do everything in PE until she finds what she is good at! This book helps us see that everyone is good at something!”
Mrs. Castor shares her love of reading by going into each classroom and connecting Heath and PE standards through a read aloud! Students can then see the power of making healthy choices all the while falling in love with a good book!

Patriot Day, observed on September 11th offers a significant opportunity for our students to learn about the events of 9/11 and reflect on its lasting impact.
Our young patriots read books, listened to read alouds and learned about the unity, resilience and compassion that followed in our country!

Kindergarten Perfect Attendance for August


Grandparents Day is next week at Louise Durham Elementary!


The Mena Little Cats Cheer Camp was hosted by Coach Dover and the Mena Cheer Team back in July. On Thursday the campers got to cheer at the Bearcat Scrimmage Game held at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium.

The Bearcat Free Youth Football Camp on Thursday was well attended.

Mena Public School teachers and employees gathered for the annual convocation and break out day on Wednesday.


Mena bus drivers are preparing for the 2024-2025 school year with in-service training today in the Performing Arts Center.
