
The Mena Bearcats competed again this year in the 2021 Farm Bureau River Valley All-Star Invitational 5K Cross Country Meet in Mansfield. Brody Brown, Trevin Plunkett and Cooper Plunkett represented Mena. Very proud of Cooper for placing 5th overall.


The Mena football season came to a close on Friday night. The Bearcats lost a first round playoff game to Trumann by a score of 14-27.


Pilar Fowler from Union Bank of Mena presented information about the banking industry and careers to Karen Purvis and Kristi Wilson’s classes at Mena High School on Friday !


The Polk County Extension Homemakers, in conjunction with Salvation Army, made a donation of self care items to Mena High School today. Pictured here are Sharon Hose and Bridgett Martin, of the Polk County Extension Homemakers, giving the items to MHS Assistant Principal Ms. Amy Montgomery for the products to be used by students of the school.


Mena High School Senior Grayson Fairless signed her letter of intent this morning to attend college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia after high school graduation, with plans of playing for the OBU Tigers women's basketball team.


Congratulations to Heather Catlett for receiving the Mena High School Teacher of Month Award. This teacher is chosen by all students at MHS. It was stated that Ms. Catlett brightens everyone’s day without fail. She always has a smile and is helpful and understanding. Her classroom is a fun learning environment and she is an amazing teacher. Ms. Catlett will receive a certificate and a cupcake from Sassafras Bakehouse.

The Mena Bearcat Cross Country Team competed in the 4A State Championship at Oaklawn in Hot Springs on Friday. The team finished 9th overall, COOPER PLUNKETT & TRE MCMELLON were All State performers. Plunkett finished 15th & McMellon finished 18th. See complete results at the link below.

Mena High School Theatre held their dress rehearsal for "The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood" on Tuesday night. The first public performance will be Saturday at 7:30pm & another public performance will be Sunday at 2:30pm. All performances will take place in the MHS Performing Arts Center. Admission is $5.00 & you are invited to attend !


The 1st annual CTSO Fall Fest and Kickball tournament was held on Tuesday at Union Bank Park. Thanks to Shelter Insurance and Baywash Car Wash for donating prizes for the winning Kickball Team.

It's another wet & cold day in Mena & that makes it a great day to practice indoors. The Bearcat football team prepared for Friday's game at Lamar on Wednesday morning in the Southern Sports Academy facility. The Mena School Board approved an agreement at their August meeting for unlimited use of the facility with no long term contract.


3 Questions With… MHS Senior Jaimeson Biard
1. Q: What's the most important thing Theatre has taught you that you will use in the future? A: I would say theater has taught me how to not take life for granted. There’s so much to do and to create. Acting is a good way to express it.
2. Q: If you had the world's attention for a minute, what would you say? A: I would Rick Roll them.
3. Q: If you can gain two superpowers for a day, what would they be and why? A: Probably super strength and flight. I can literally do anything with that. Be anywhere, and throw the Statue of Liberty.


The Mena Basscats were in action this past weekend. Austin Rose and Jarrett Burger(Sr Div), Waylon Head and Braxton Philpot(Jr Div) competed in the Arkansas Young Guns tournament Saturday on Lake Hamilton. Rose and Burger took 5th place. On Sunday the Basscats competed in the Arkansas Youth Fishing Federation Tournament held on Lake Degray. Rose and Burger placed 3rd in the High School division. The Basscats will be back in action at Lake Dardanelle on Saturday November 27th.


Mena High School English Classes were treated to the MHS Theatre Department production of "The Poe Show" in the Performing Arts Center on Friday.


Being Barry the Bearcat is a hot & tough job. But it does have it's perks. GO BARRY !!!!


Lance Spinger, Will Sheffield, Tracy Nealy, and Bill Savell, softball and baseball coaches from the University of Arkansas at RIch Mountain, spoke this morning about careers related to coaching and teaching at Mena High School. Students were invited to attend their presentation based on their "liked" career choices in Xello. Xello is the career planning software program MHS students are using to learn more about their skills, knowledge, and plans for their future careers.


Mena High School JAG students took advantage of an opportunity to mentor at Holly Harshman Elementary on Thursday.


There will be a Mena Senior Parent event planning meeting on Wednesday, November 17th at 5:30 pm in the Mena High School Library. These events include after prom & the winter formal.


The Mena Ladycat volleyball season came to an end at the 4A State Tournament on Wednesday. Brookland defeated Mena 3-2 by a score of 22-25, 25-20, 28-26, 15-25 & 14-16. Thank you Ladycats for a great season !!!
