Mena Football will play DeQueen in their season opener on Friday, August 27th at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. We thought now would be an appropriate time for a little history lesson.
The first football game played by Mena High School was in 1912. In the game the Bearcats played DeQueen. The Leopards won by a score of 20-6. There were only thirteen boys on the Mena squad. Additionally, only two boys had ever even seen a game. One eyewitness said, “The small squad made up for lack of knowledge by rough play.”
GO BEARCATS!!!!

2021 scholarship recipient Cauy House is a recent Mena High School graduate with plans to attend Ouachita Baptist University to study agribusiness.
In high school, Cauy was a member of National Society of High School Scholars, National Honors Society, FFA and played for the Mena High School football team. He will also play football for OBU this fall.
Cauy grew up on his family’s cow-calf operation in Polk county and says that in addition to pursing a career in agriculture business, he wants to continue to invest time into raising quality beef.
“Rural life has played a huge role in helping me decide on what I want to be in the future,” Cauy said. “I thank my dad every day for raising me up on our farm and teaching me how to be a cattleman. Without him doing that, I would have no clue on what I would want to be.”
