The Mena Jr. Ladycats dominated the field and took the Champions trophy in the Bear State Bank Tournament in Waldron. The Ladycats opened play on Monday with strong 48-37 victory over Cossatot River to set up a meeting with the number one seeded Mt. Ida Lady Lions. The Jr. Ladycats started slow but were able to surge to a 37-25 victory to send them to the finals against the host team Waldron. Behind suffocating defense, strong rebounding, and consistent scoring, the Jr. Ladycats took command early and cruised to a resounding 48-12 victory over the Jr. Lady Bulldogs to secure the trophy. Paige Evans was named the Tournament MVP behind her 50+ points in 3 games and also being the leading rebounder.
The Jr. Ladycats (5-0) will next be in action on Monday, November 28 at Lakeside.
