
Mena Middle School student Bryant Thomas placed 1st in the division IV-8th grade Mena Elks Americanism Essay Contest. He was awarded a certificate and a $50 Wal-Mart gift card. His essay will advance to the state competition. Sammy Fagan and Brayden Wilson were presented with a certificate of participation for their outstanding essays. Thank you to the Mena Elks and Phyllis Caldwell for the opportunity for our students to share their talents.

Today we celebrated all of our students at LD, HHE, and MMS for attending school all week! Students that attended all week were put into a drawing for a Papa's Mexican Cafe Gift Card!

Today Mena Middle School Celebrated our Annual “Pick”le your Choices Wisely Day. Students traded a pledge to be spit/chew tobacco free for a pickle.


To promote National Through with Chew week the Mena Middle School Project Prevent Team treated the faculty with popcorn, water and tobacco prevention messages.


Mena School resource officers and school personnel attended a workshop entitled "Strategic Communication for Interacting with Juveniles" at the DeQueen Mena Education Service Cooperative on Friday. These employees spend much of their daily activities in communication with students. This course provided participants with a foundation in strategically communicating with juveniles. Topics covered include using active listening skills, rapport building, verbal judo, teen brain development and de-escalation tactics for use in dealing with conflict.


At Thursday's meeting of the Rotary Club, Dr Lee Smith and Bridgett Buckley of Mena Schools told us about a new disciplinary program implemented by the school system. They work with prosecuting attorney Debra Buschman's office to help the students achieve a positive outcome and a new direction for their lives. Mena Public Schools


Mena High School Theatre students performed "Beauty and That Beast Guy" for 8th grade English classes on Thursday in the Performing Arts Center.


The 7th and 8th grade team dominated todays dodgeball tournament at Mena Middle School. They won all three games against the 6th grade team.


Mena Middle School FBLA attended the District I Spring Leadership conference on Wednesday at the Fort Smith Convention Center along with Mena High School. The following students competed in various events and placed in their competitions:

The end-of-semester dance at Mena MIddle School was a blast!


The Mena Middle School and Mena High School Choirs performed their annual Christmas show on Thursday in the Performing Arts Center.

Mena Middle School 7th graders were rewarded on Friday with a movie and concessions for being the grade to donate the most items to the Backpack Program. Thank you Teeter Motor Company for sponsoring the trip and to Silver Screens Theater for hosting our wild crew!


The MMS Project Prevent Team challenged their peers to take the pledge to be Nicotine Free and asked what they are thankful for. The pledges and thankful responses were listed individually and displayed on feathers on the Turkey to welcome families for Thanksgiving Lunch.


November 17th is National Preemie Day. Mena Middle School students and staff showed their support by donating $1 to wear a cap/hat to school for the day. MMS FBLA was able to raise $50 for the March of Dimes to support premature babies and their families.


The Mena Ladycats defeated Ft. Lake 3-0 on Tuesday.
They will be back in action on Thursday when the paly Arkadelphia at the UBC.
