MMS Announcements for Friday, April 12th Today is the 150th day of school, with only 28 school days remaining. Parent / Teacher Mid Term Conferences will be next Wednesday. There is starting to be a lot of breakfast trash left outside in the mornings, even though there are several large trashcans nearby. If this problem continues, you will no longer be allowed to take breakfast outside. From Mrs. Lunsford: To sign up for EAST or Yearbook Staff for next year, see your student e-mail. The form has been sent to all 6th and 7th graders. The lost-and-found box is overflowing again. Please check it for missing items. There will be no school one week from today (Good Friday). The Special Olympics will be taking place at Bearcat Stadium today beginning at 1:00 and ending between 3:30 – 4:00. Reminder: In order to attend, your parent must call or come by to check you out, unless you are going with a coach or teacher as part of a group. Mena Mayor Seth Smith was at the Middle School today for a special event. Smith was surrounded by BADD (bearcats against destructive decisions) students as he signed a proclamation making April Alcohol Awareness Month in Mena.

MHS ANNOUNCEMENTS FRIDAY 4/12/19 Softball will play Hackett here today. Soccer will have a game here today against DeQueen. Tomorrow is the April ACT. Please bring ACT ticket, ID, pencil, calculator, water, and snack. Park on middle school parking lot and enter through doors by English rooms. Be here at 7:45. Testing begins at 8. There will be a tennis meeting during Enrichment on Wednesday April 17th for anyone interested in playing tennis next Fall in room 303. Due to inclement weather the pictures in the park for prom has been canceled. The high school will be open from 4-6pm tomorrow for students and families that would like to take pictures before prom. The students on the junior prom planning committee need to eat lunch A today and load the bus afterwards to go to the college to decorate for prom. Juniors and Seniors who would like to attend Job Fair next Thursday, April 18 during 3rd period, please sign up in counseling center. Bearcats for a Cure is taking donations of Easter eggs and candy for the Egg my Yard fundraiser. If you donate you will be given an hour of community service. Please bring donations to Mrs. Wilson or Mrs. Hobson by Wednesday April, 16. The Freshmen and Sophomores will have a meeting today during Enrichment in the PAC. BFI will have a volleyball tournament May 2nd. Contact BFI for more information. If you are interested in submitting a lip sync contest entry, see Ms. Kropp. Prom will be 8-11 at Ouachita Center. Group photo at 7:45. After prom will be at Silver Screen Theater. The movie will be from 11:30-1:00 then prizes and breakfast will be at Mena High school from 1-2 am. Prom dues are due Friday to Ms. Hendrix. Anyone interested in applying to be on next year's Yearbook Staff, the applications are now available in Mr. Philpot's room 205. Return applications by next Wednesday the 17th. FFA members who are interested in receiving their Greenhand degree, Star greenhand award (9th grade only), Chapter, Degree, or Star chapter award (Seniors only) at the FFA banquet need to pick up applications for Mr. Collins this week. Deadline for turning in FFA greenhand and chapter degree applications will be April 17 Friday. The FFA has a sign-up sheet in the Ag building for the members who are planning to show livestock this year. Senior FFA members, the Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship applications are available. You can pick up applications from Mr. Collins or Mr. Maye this week. Applications are due April 22. FBLA officer applications for the 2019-2020 school year are now available in Mrs. Lindsey's and Mrs. Torix's rooms for any FBLA member who would like to be an officer next year. They are due April 26. Students since it is turkey season make sure you do not bring any rifles to school in your vehicle. If a gun is found in your vehicle, it is required by law to look and it is a 365 day expulsion. Art Club officer applications are now available for any interested art club member. Deadline to submit applications will be April 16th at noon. All cap and gowns that have been ordered and not paid for are in the office. Herf Jones is accepting cash only or you can pay on-line. Mr. Breedlove will be taking orders for Senior Bricks. The cost is $20 per brick or $10 to share a brick with another person. Bricks must be paid for in advance. Students you must scan your ID cards at lunch. Do not get extras unless you have money in your account. Lunch: Chicken spaghetti, cheeseburger, corn dog or chicken sandwich

The Mena Ladycat soccer team played at Centerpoint Wednesday evening & tied the Lady Knights 1-1 in regulation. The Ladycats out scored Centerpoint 4-2 in the SO for the win...Both Mena soccer teams will be in action on Friday when they host DeQueen at Bearcat Stadium...
