The new school year is just around the corner & the Mena Public Schools campuses were all buzzing with activity this morning... The first day of school is August 14th!!!
There will be a few changes in the cafeteria this year that you need to be aware of...
At LDE & HHE they will be implementing the new FUEL program... A new specialty item will be introduced once per month & if the kids respond well it will be added to the future menu...
At MMS they will be adding a second chance breakfast between 1st & 2nd period.. The second chance breakfast was a big hit at the high school last year...
At MHS the grill line & the pizza line will be switching locations in the cafeteria...
At MHS & MMS there will be new choices in addition to the traditional menu...
MONDAY will be a rotating made to order line...
TUESDAY & THURSDAY there will be a made to order tortilla line....
WEDNESDAY there will be made to order boneless wings
FRIDAY will be a made to order potato bar

Polk County Virtual Academy will host an informational meeting on August 9th at 10am in the Mena High School Library. Current parents or guardians of PCVA students as well as anyone who is interested in learning more about the program is welcome to attend. Polk County Virtual Academy is excited to announce our partnership with Edmentum and Calvert Learning for our K-8 curriculum in the 2019-2020 school year. Calvert Learning has been working with home-school curriculum for over 100 years. 9th through 12th grade will continue to use EdOptions. Both programs offer Arkansas certified teachers and are aligned with Arkansas State Standards. Mena Public School Bus Drivers are undergoing their annual training today in the MHS Performing Arts Center. These professionals are a great asset & are very much appreciated. The new school year begins on August 14th.

If you live outside the Mena School District & your child wants to be a Bearcat, or if you missed the school choice deadline, there are some important dates coming up that you need to know about. Applications for student transfers will be accepted Monday, July 29th thru Monday, August 12th. This also applies to out of district students who would like to enroll in the Polk County Virtual Academy.
